The red sky observed from Svalbard on the 6'th December 2002 is identified to be multiple scattered solar light originating from a Twilight Illuminated Polar Stratospheric Cloud (TIPSC). The TIPSC was found to be located at about (73N, 53E) to (75N,50E), which is approximately South East of Longyearbyen - between Svalbard and Scandinavia. The altitude was 20 - 26 km up in the Stratosphere.
